20100126 Regular Meeting

TME: Amy Kao
THEME: Name with Story

"In my very first English class, the teacher asked me to chose an English name. At that time,I was ten years old. Everyone was waving their hand and waiting for teacher's call. I was so lucky to be the first one who can pick their own name, so I ran to the teacher ,pointed to the shortest name on white board and said, that one is mine. From that moment, I became Amy.
How about you? Where did you get your English name?Do you have any story to share? or would you like to tell us where your Chinese name comes from?
Or tell us some of your lovely nickname stories?
We are all looking forward to your fantastic stories~

Tips to be a good Toastmaster by Edward Wu

After our senior, beautiful member, Athena Lien, brought us a successful model for TME last wek, we did not only have a wonderful meeting, but also learned the secrert of successful TME.
The followings are what I found from Athena's performance.

Rule 1: Well dressing ----- Because you are the toastmaster, you may be different from the one you usually are. Let the spotlight focus on you. Your dressing can help you draw the audience's attention easily.

Rule 2: Toastmaster is the king----- The main responsibility of TME is to host the meeting smoothly. In order to make this, you may change the rule we uasually had. For example, when meeting started late, but we have to end it on time. Athena just skipped the description for theme of every assignment-taker. Yes, you are the king of the meeting, make changes that can help you run the meeting smoothly, effectively, and successfully.

Rule 3: Let everyone speak------ Before Athena turned her control panel to the president, she invited persons who didn't speak during the meeting to share their opinion about theme. Let everyone have the chance to speak in public. That's the main purpose of TM.

Now, it's your turn to be the TME.

Looking forward to your excellent performance!
